Sildenafil
Sildenafil is a common treatment prescribed for erectile dysfunction. It works by improving body’s blood flow to the penis during sexual arousal, making it easier to maintain and achieve an erection.
Sildenafil is the generic version of Viagra. This medication should be taken 30 to 60 minutes prior to sexual activity. Sildenafil works by widening the blood vessels in the penis which improves blood flow to the penis, resulting in longer-lasting and stronger erections
There are risks of possible side effect when taking sildenafil, as with any medication. Most side effects quite mild and subside over time. Others can be more serious and, in this stance, should be reported to your GP right away when using sildenafil. Common side effect can include:
· Diarrhoea
· Dizziness
· Headaches
· Nausea
· Nose bleeds
· Read Face
· Upset stomach
· Insomnia
These are more serious side effects. Consult your GP if you experience the following when you take sildenafil and go to A&E if your symptoms are severe:
Serious Side effects
· Symptoms of low blood pressure including confusion, light-headedness, fatigue, weakness, nausea, fainting
· Dizziness
· Shortness of breath
· Sudden hearing loss or ringing in the ear
· Sudden loss of vision in one or both eyes
· An erection that will not go away after 4 hours after taking sildenafil
How do you take sildenafil?
A single dose should be taken an hour before engaging in any sexual interaction. It is important not to take more than 1 sildenafil in a 24-hour period. if you take sildenafil with high intakes of alcohol there is a chance it may not work.
How long does it take Sildenafil to work?
Sildenafil usually works between 30-60mins after taking one tablet but the effects can last up to 5 hours, however can be dependent
Is sildenafil the same as Viagra?

Alternative treatments include Tadalafil (Cialis), Vardenafil, and Levitra
