Epiduo Gel
Epiduo gel is a topical acne gel which is applied directly to the affected skin. It contains adapalene and benzyl peroxide which prevents clogging of the pores and helps removes harmful bacteria from the skin
Epiduo gel is used to treat mild to moderate acne. Acne is a common skin condition that causes spots and oily skin. It can also cause the skin to be painful and swollen. Most people will be affected by acne at some point in their lives.
Used over several weeks, Epiduo can reduce inflammatory acne (a type of acne with swollen, red blemishes) and non-inflammatory acne (a type of acne with non-painful blemishes). While Epiduo gel can help to prevent acne scars in the future, it is not intended as a treatment for your current acne scars.
There are risks of possible side effects when using Epiduo gel, as with any medication. Most side effects are quite mild and subside over time. Others can be more serious and, in this stance, should be reported to your GP right away when using Epiduo. Feel free to contact a member of our team if you have any questions regarding the side effects and use of Epiduo gel.

How do I use Epiduo gel?
Epiduo gel should be applied once daily in the evening. You should not apply Epiduo more than once in 24 hours.
Skin should be thoroughly clean and dried with any makeup removed before the gel is applied
A thin layer should be applied on the affected area using your fingertips to smooth it out; it should be applied to all areas of acne and not just each spot. Epiduo gel should not be applied to irritated skin, cuts, or burns.
Epiduo should be applied to the skin and away from lips, mouth, or eyes
Can I use Epiduo alongside other acne treatments?
It is fine to use oral antibiotic acne treatments but not another topical acne treatment as this can cause excess dryness and irritation of the skin
How long will it take Epiduo to work?
This can vary from patient to patient but results can be seen within 4-5 weeks, with full benefits seen after 12 weeks. If no improvement there are a variety of treatments that can be trialed and you should consult your doctor
How long should I use Epiduo?
Epiduo should be used for as long as it is prescribed by your doctor. If there are no improvements after 8 weeks then your doctor should be consulted to discuss an alternative.
Can I buy Epiduo over the counter?
Epiduo can only be obtained with a prescription, which means it can’t be bought over the counter at your local pharmacy. You can get it online at Pharmacy7days. You will need to complete an online medical prescriber to ensure it is appropriate for yourself.
Before taking any medicines, regardless of whether they are over-the-counter or prescription-only, it is essential always to read the patient information leaflet.
