Duac Gel
Duac gel is a topical solution used to treat acne; it contains clindamycin and benzoyl peroxide.
Duac gel has a dual mechanism of action, the clindamycin works by preventing the bacteria from growing and the benzoyl peroxide helps prevent the pores from being blocked.

Duac once daily gel is an effective acne treatment used to treat severe acne. It is a topical gel that comes in two different strengths (3% and 5%). It contains two active ingredients that work together (but in different ways) to treat acne-causing bacteria.
1. Benzoyl Peroxide is an antiseptic peeling agent that works by peeling skin and clearing the pores;
2. While Clindamycin is an antibiotic that fights the bacteria that causes outbreaks in the skin.
The gel is designed for use once a day, usually in the evening before bedtime. While you can not completely cure acne, it can be controlled with acne treatment.
There are risks of possible side effects when using Duac gel, as with any medication. Most side effects are quite mild and subside over time. Others can be more serious and, in this stance, should be reported to your GP right away when using Duac. · Signs of an allergic reaction (Difficulty breathing, talking, or swelling of the face and tongue)
· Red scaly rash with blisters under the skin
· Painful rash or a burning sensation which doesn’t go away
How do I use Duac Gel?
Duac should be applied once daily in the evening.
A thin layer should be applied on the affected area using your fingertips to smooth it out; it should be applied to all areas of acne and not just each spot. Duac gel should not be applied to irritated skin, cuts or burns.

Can I use Duac alongside other acne treatments?
It is fine to use oral antibiotic acne treatments but not another topical acne treatment as this can cause excess dryness and irritation of the skin
How long will it take Duac to work?
This can vary from patient to patient but results can be seen within 4-6 weeks, with full benefits seen after 12 weeks. If no improvement there are a variety of treatments that can be trialed and you should consult your doctor
How long should I use Duac for?
Duac should be used for as long as your doctor prescribes it. If there are no improvements after 8 weeks, your doctor should be consulted to discuss an alternative.
Can I buy Duac over the counter?
